Job Description:

The Electronics Engineering Function is looking to grow its Obsolescence and Component Engineering team to work in the Praetorian Production IPT as a Principal Obsolescence Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to work in synergy with commercial, procurement and the engineering teams on one of the most cutting-edge products to ensure continued production.

Responsibilities

  • You will collaborate with the product IPT and ensure best practice is followed for Obsolescence management to continually support the production of the Praetorian product; this will also include managing the workshare partners.
  • Performs obsolescence reviews of the production build standards and the selected component list using the department\'s Obsolescence management tools and provide notifications to the customer of any obsolescence via commercial.
  • Work with the commercial and procurement teams to ensure Last Time Buys are procured and provide alternative recommendations to the engineering team; chair obsolescence review boards with the IPT and develop key relationships.
  • Create and update the Obsolescence Management Plan annually and provide support to the Obsolescence Lead to review obsolescence process effectiveness, developing and enhancing procedure documents.

What you’ll bring

  • An in-depth understanding of applying Obsolescence Management engineering principles and standards across the engineering lifecycle
  • Knowledge of IEC62402 and its application
  • Risk Management experience (Obsolescence process specific)
  • Comprehensive experience in Obsolescence Management in the Defence or Aerospace sector
  • Familiarity with Electronic Component datasheets and specifications
  • Solid understanding of Electronic Components and Lifecycle Management
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Generally, work to well defined processes and instructions
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers / suppliers

Nice-to-have

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or related field
  • Familiar with supply chain processes including key supplier engagement

Location, employment type and working style

This is a unique opportunity to work almost fully remotely, if desired, with occasional trips to our Luton site (on average once a month).
