Role focus

Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we’re looking for an Electrical Engineer who can progress in Overhead Line (OHL) design to provide support to projects across Jacobs’ markets. This includes work on transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems, inertia systems, wind farms and advanced facilities for mission critical industries. We will consider professionals with High Voltage energy infrastructure design experience, especially those with site-based work experience, build projects and contractors.

We value collaboration and in-person interactions while offering hybrid working to split time between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.

Responsibilities

  • Progress in OHL design to support projects across Jacobs’ markets (transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, energy storage, inertia systems, wind farms, mission-critical facilities).
  • Collaborate with project teams and contractors on design development, site work, and build projects.
  • Prepare design calculations, reports and detailed drawings. CAD (AutoCAD or Microstation) experience preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status.
  • Experience within an electrical discipline and in delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects with tier 1 & 2 contractors.
  • Relevant professional experience in HV and LV ranges (33kV - 400kV).
  • Experience preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings. CAD (AutoCAD or Microstation) preferred but not essential.
