Salary: Negotiable, depending on experienceWhat you’ll be doingProviding advice on product safety matters to project and engineering managers delivering the programmes and ensuring the safety considerations (DEF STAN 0055/0056) are correctly considered and implementedEngaging with third parties, to review and gather supporting safety case evidenceDeveloping safety arguments, both physical and functional, using appropriate safety analysis methods e.g. FHA/STPA/FMEA/FTAProducing and updating safety case and safety management documentation using appropriate regulations and standardsLine managing other safety practitionersApplying ALARP principlesSkills and ExperienceEssential: Safety engineering processes, practices and tools; clear understanding of safety engineering & assurance principlesExperience and qualified engineers from other disciplines who display the correct behaviours and have an understanding of safety engineeringDesirable: Good communication skills and ability to interact and manage stakeholdersBenefitsAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.The Combat Systems Safety TeamWorking closely with several engineers and technical specialists on both In-Service and In-Build Combat Systems, you will have the opportunity to work on developing safety arguments.
