We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Protection and Control Design Engineer to join our growing Transmission & Distribution team. You’ll be working on some of the UK’s most exciting infrastructure projects - from HVDC and interconnectors to wind farms and substations - alongside a collaborative team of engineers who are passionate about delivering smart, sustainable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design protection and control systems for electrical substations up to 400kV for our Transmission & Distribution clients.
- Prepare single line diagrams, key line diagrams, and interlocking schemes based on project requirements.
- Develop detailed electrical designs for equipment such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, and earth switches.
- Ensure adequate quality assurance process is followed through as per the requirements.
- Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with the contract to the satisfaction of the client and the specifications.
- Ensure that relevant Health and Safety risks and hazards are identified, made known to the project team and properly managed.
- Actively developing external and internal client relationships.
- Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work for National Grid, SSEN, and other clients.
- Interface with other discipline e.g. Civil/Structural, Substations, HV Cables and OHL engineers.
Qualifications
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status
- Experience within an electrical discipline and experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects e.g. Rail or Oil and Gas Refinery
- Relevant, professional experience in HV and LV experience 33kV - 400kV
- Experience preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings. CAD (AutoCAD or Microstation) preferred but not essential
