Principal Structural Engineer - Fareham

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join their established team in Fareham. This role will suit a Chartered or near‑Chartered engineer seeking greater technical responsibility, project ownership, and clear progression within a close‑knit, high‑performing practice.

With a portfolio ranging from bespoke residential schemes to complex multi‑million‑pound commercial builds, the company offers genuine project variety, early design involvement, and direct collaboration with senior leadership. Role Overview

  • Lead and manage the structural design and delivery of residential and commercial projects from concept to completion.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to ensure designs are practical, cost‑effective and compliant with UK regulations.
  • Undertake detailed analysis and design in steel, concrete, masonry and timber using industry‑standard software.
  • Liaise closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Oversee, mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high‑quality design culture.
  • Maintain or progress toward Chartered status with full professional support.

Requirements

  • Chartered or near Chartered with the ICE or IStructE.
  • Proven record delivering structural design across residential and/or commercial developments.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK design codes and standards.
  • Confident using analysis and design software with the ability to produce accurate calculations and reports.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to attend site and client meetings as required.

Package & Benefits

  • Salary: £60,000 - £70,000
