Position Overview The SSNA Whole Boat (Product Architecture and Integration) team: This team has a main responsibility for integration of the SSNA product architecture, working across system, major function and whole boat levels of the design. This also includes integration of product architecture at a system and component level, as well as at a major function and major system level, including supporting the delivery of high‑level product assurance and architecture. Responsibilities
Delivering product integration workstreams to meet customer and contractual obligations; resolving engineering conflicts between disciplines, systems and capabilities. Integrating activity and solution development; meeting a coherent and prioritised set of demands, tailoring and applying engineering processes, tools, and approaches to develop innovative and creative solutions to contracts and specifications. Facilitating collaboration across organisational engineering boundaries, e.g., by running working groups and monitoring and driving progress against actions and metrics. Defining and governing Whole Boat Design policies, processes and guidance. Utilising support from more junior engineers within Whole Boat to deliver integration activities. Ensuring developed SSNA major systems and functions are clearly defined, integrated and configured. Performing appropriate engineering coordination and review activities to provide engineering assurance. Applying knowledge of engineering framework(s) and engineering lifecycle. Applying system engineering principles and ways of working. Managing effective stakeholder engagement across functional and organisational boundaries. Managing complex tasks through dispersed teams.
Qualifications
Team leader/mentoring experience required for the principal level role. Knowledge of engineering framework(s) and engineering lifecycle. System engineering principles and ways of working.
Desirable
Submarine or complex military product knowledge.
Security and Background Requirements Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. Salary and Benefits Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience.
