Band 8B 0.8 hours (30 hours). Base: Wayside House Coventry. As part of your role you will be required to travel throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. This role also incorporates remote and agile working.
We “The Children’s Intensive Support Team” are seeking a committed and passionate Principal Clinical Psychologist to make a difference in improving outcomes for our young people. In addition to providing a high quality, specialist applied psychology service the post holder will join the Children’s IST Leadership Team and be responsible, in conjunction with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, for the supervision and governance of the team. They will also support psychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.
We are a rapidly evolving service and as such there will considerable opportunities to utilise research, audit and service development skills across the service. The ability to respond quickly and confidently within crisis situations is an essential part of this role.
The teams work systemically to understand and support the significant impact and challenges experienced by our service users. To do this, we work with the network around the person (e.g., Social Care, Education) and work closely with commissioners. As a Clinical Psychologist you will have experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working as you will need to attend regular MDTs, CETRs and EMDTs.
The successful applicant will be required to provide input to the service in the form of specialist assessments and psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training, service evaluation and supervision of other qualified staff.
Your role will entail working directly with the service users and their families or carers and, as such, experience of working with young people who are autistic or have a learning disability and have mental health needs is essential. The people referred to our service have highly complex needs, e.g., enduring behaviour which challenges, self‑injurious, aggressive, or violent behaviour, or other risky presentations which could lead to harm to themselves or others. Understanding these needs, risks, and behaviours within the context of our service user’s lived experiences and autism and/or learning disability is the foundation of our work and we use Team Formulations and strengths and challenges approach to be neuro‑affirmative to help us to do this. You will have a key role in these processes, along with specialist assessments, interventions, and evaluations, which will involve working to understand relationships within families. Experience of the clinical application and evaluation of similar approaches would be advantageous.
Qualifications
Experience of working with young people who are autistic or have a learning disability and have mental health needs. Ability to respond quickly and confidently within crisis situations. Experience of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working, attending regular MDTs, CETRs and EMDTs. Knowledge of Team Formulations and strengths and challenges approach and neuro‑affirmative practice. Experience of the clinical application and evaluation of similar approaches would be advantageous.
