Private Client Solicitor or Director | Location: Newhaven Office (or other local office, with some home working) | Contract: Full-time or Part-time | Salary: Competitive DOE

A leading Sussex law firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor or Practitioner to join its supportive and well-regarded team. This role would also suit someone looking to step into a Director position, or an existing Director seeking a fresh challenge.

The Role

You will manage a varied caseload of private client matters, including:

  • Probate and intestacies
  • Taxable estates
  • Wills and LPAs
  • Court of Protection
  • Trusts
  • Management of client affairs

Working closely with the Head of Department, Directors, and other Solicitors, you will deliver exceptional client care while supporting and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage allocated client work independently and efficiently
  • Provide excellent client service with empathy and professionalism
  • Actively contribute to business development and networking
  • Deliver fee income in line with targets
  • Keep updated with changes in law and maintain CPD
  • Supervise and support immediate support staff
  • Ensure compliance with risk management, Solicitors Accounts Rules, and professional conduct standards

About You

  • 3+ PQE as a Private Client Solicitor or Practitioner
  • Strong technical knowledge across wills, probate, trusts, and estate planning
  • Capable of working independently and taking initiative
  • Excellent mentoring and supervisory skills
  • Friendly, proactive, and confident in client-facing work
  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities desirable
