Overview
Procurement Category Manager (Energy, Gas, Water Services, Chemicals, Co-Packing & Capex) – Full-time / Permanent – Hybrid Working. This role is based at one of the following sites: Market Drayton, Telford, Droitwich or Manchester. We are recruiting to manage a high-complexity spend area, create robust spend category strategies, and provide active business partnering with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement category strategies for key spend areas aligned with the Business Units and Group Service functions.
- Ensure procurement policy, processes and spend compliance rules are in place.
- Support new product launches within the Business Units, participating in strategic projects.
Stakeholder Management
- Create and present recommendations to the business units.
- Present key insights/updates to key stakeholders, covering data analysis and market insight to ensure effective planning and decision making.
Supplier Management
- Implement a supplier relationship strategy to achieve agreed KPIs and develop sustainable added-value potential.
Subject Matter Expertise
- Significant experience in Utilities procurement or other heavily data-driven procurement categories. Experience in Food stuffs, FMCG or similar operational procurement. Clear understanding of requirements to support the business while challenging specifications and operational methods to drive value.
- A capable project manager who can drive action from a project team and deliver sourcing events within defined timescales.
Continuous Improvement
- Carry out continuous improvement and efficiency reviews with defined action plans detailing accountabilities and timelines.
Key Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Category Manager role.
- Specialist knowledge and experience in the defined categories (Energy, Gas, Water Services, Chemicals, Co-Packing & Capex) is desirable.
- Ability to translate strategies into action; strong communication skills at all levels; excellent data interpretation and analysis skills; moderation/presentation skills; competent project management skills; ability to participate in and lead project teams.
- Advanced project management skills would be desirable.
