Landmark Decision in West Midlands Bus Services
A significant change is happening in May 2025, as the West Midlands transitions from a private operator-led bus network to a franchised bus service. This transformation is an exciting opportunity for the WMCA and local communities, and we are seeking a dedicated Procurement Lead Officer to join our team.
The new Procurement Lead Officer (PLO) will work closely with Senior PLOs and Business Partners to enhance and develop the procurement function, providing proactive and solutions-focused services across WMCA.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement strategic procurement sourcing strategies.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers from public, private, and third sectors.
  3. Increase the profile of procurement through cross-functional teamwork and networking.
  4. Manage procurement portfolios for designated support areas.
  5. Lead contract management processes, including performance and implementation meetings, and grant funding processes.
  6. Maintain and update contract databases, ensuring KPI measurement and performance management.
  7. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and develop tender documentation.
Essential Criteria:
Location: 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD, with at least 2 days in the office weekly.
