Procurement Manager

Brakes has an opportunity for an Indirect Goods and Services Procurement Manager to join the Indirect Goods and Services procurement team (IG&S) within the Merchandising department on a full-time, permanent basis.
Reporting to the Head of Indirect Goods & Services, the Indirect Procurement Manager's role is essential in delivering and managing a reliable and efficient supplier base for the smooth operation of our business.
The IG&S team manages a diverse range of areas including utilities, fuel, trucks, cars, transport, warehousing, facilities, stationary, and uniforms across all Sysco GB companies. You will be responsible for sourcing goods and services of the right quality, service, and price, ensuring robust contract positions, minimizing risks, and maximizing benefits.
This role offers a hybrid working contract, requiring one or two weekly visits to the Ashford, Kent office, so candidates must be within a commutable distance.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders in Sysco GB to source cost-effective goods and services.
- Negotiate, manage, and complete contract negotiations to deliver cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Manage the supplier base, negotiate terms, develop joint business plans, and improve product and service levels.
- Act as an escalation point, taking ownership of and resolving issues in your area.
- Ensure sourcing complies with all group policies, including CSR credentials.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings, working alongside experienced negotiators and supported by a legal team.
About you:
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar Buyer / Procurement role and seek to join a global organization for the next career step.
You should be a confident communicator, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders, and enjoy building relationships internally and externally to maximize value.
Strong numerical and analytical skills are required to deliver insights and guide category strategies. You should have excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills, with resilience under pressure to meet deadlines.
