A rare opportunity to join the Procurement Management Team at Durham County Council has become available. The Council are seeking to recruit a Procurement Manager to support delivery of the Council’s procurement strategy, major project work and strategic priorities as part of an award winning and proactive procurement team of 26 employees.



WHAT IS INVOLVED?



This strategic role is one of three Procurement Manager positions (with this role supporting a gap left through maternity leave), you will have line management responsibility of 6-7 officers and report directly to the Chief Procurement Officer.



This key management role contains responsibilities for strategic category management leadership and procurement project delivery, as well as development and implementation of our new procurement strategy. You will take a lead in ensuring our commercial opportunities and Service Legal Agreement delivery, you will also lead our social value work and influence our County Durham Pound project. This role will also cover our policies, systems, processes, spend analysis, and work programmes to achieve an efficient e-enabled single way of working to ensure we meet the requirement of the Procurement Act 2023.

WHAT WILL I NEED?



Candidates should be fully MCIPS qualified (Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply Level 6) or part qualified with a firm commitment to achieve full MCIPS within a mutually agreed timescale. However, a degree or degree level qualification in an appropriate subject may also be considered to be acceptable with experience pursuant to the role.



This is a key role in a fast paced and important regulatory service in the Council, you will bring enthusiasm and energy to the position and have experience of supporting junior officers in their career development as well as engagement with Senior Officers and Members on a regular basis.

HYBRID WORKING



Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
