Location: Hybrid – 3 days at Hertford HQ, 2 days remote. Travel will be required to our Distribution Centre in Swindon, as well as to factories located in the Far East, Poland, and across the UK. All associated travel and accommodation expenses will be fully covered.

Role Overview
This role is key to ensuring our products don’t just look incredible but meet all relevant safety and compliance standards too. From fire regulations to material testing, you’ll be the go-to for all things quality and compliance.
You’ll work across our supplier base to ensure every new product meets internal quality benchmarks and external regulations. You’ll also support the onboarding of new suppliers, help maintain consistent documentation, and lead the charge on getting our products tested, certified, and market-ready.
A strong relationship with our Customer Experience team is key, you’ll be working closely with them to analyse returns data and non-conformance trends to help improve product performance and reduce future issues.
You’ll also take the lead on training wider teams to boost understanding of quality requirements across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Product Compliance & Legislation
- Ensure all upholstered furniture meets UK regulations including the Furniture & Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988.
- Keep on top of changing safety legislation in the UK and international markets.
- Organise testing and certification of products where needed.
- Maintain all technical files, certifications, and declarations of conformity.
- Develop and implement internal product quality standards.
- Review product specs, samples, and inspections to catch issues before they reach customers.
- Identify risks early and recommend improvements to avoid quality issues.
- Collaborate with the Customer Experience team to analyse returns data and identify product-related trends or recurring issues.
- Manage non-conformance and warranty reports and work with suppliers to drive corrective actions.
- Assess new suppliers from a quality and compliance perspective.
- Check their certifications, testing procedures, and quality control systems.
- Work with Product, Merch, and Buying teams to align expectations before production starts.
- Build compliance frameworks, checklists, and internal tracking systems.
- Act as the “technical conscience” of the business—keeping everyone honest on quality and safety.
- Drive training across teams to boost understanding of quality requirements.
- Experience in a product quality, technical, or compliance role—ideally in furniture, textiles, or consumer goods.
- Strong understanding of fire safety and quality regulations for upholstered furniture.
- Experience working with UK test houses, safety certification, and compliance documents.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Confident communicator who can work cross-functionally and influence suppliers.
- Ability to work closely with Customer Service teams to translate customer feedback into actionable product improvements.
- Knowledge of sustainability and ethical sourcing is a bonus.
