As a Production Engineer you are to ensure that SEA's production processes are effective and predictable through the deployment of appropriate processes, controls, and equipment. Providing input into PV projects to drive DFM best practice.
Location and salary
Production Engineer will be based at our Barnstaple site. This role allows for flexible working.
The salary for this role is up to £38k, depending on experience.
What you'll be doing
- Calibration of tooling
- Generating and maintaining standard operating instructions
- Production line layouts and balancing
- Material handling, storage and continuous flow/pull
- Time studies in manufacturing
- Optimise and challenge the design with respect to DFM for new products
- Review and implement process improvements to reduce production costs
- Developing and supporting visual controls on the shop floor
- Lead on the implementation of Engineering Changes on the shop floor
- Be first triage of quality problems encountered in manufacturing
- Assist in the evaluation of returned materials and products
- Attend daily GEMBA meetings as appropriate
- Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks
- Assist with PFMEA and implement improvements
Qualifications
- Design of Production Tooling and equipment (Mechanical or electrical engineering experience, ideally with Solidworks experience)
- Calibration and Maintenance procedures - Measurement System experience and methods of qualifying, Gauge R&R, SMED, TPM etc
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Introducing manufacturing documentation and creation of standard operating procedures
- Working in a similar role autonomously - self managing workload and drive
- Awareness of ISO9001 with regards requirements of manufacturing areas
- Ability to read and interpret designs
