As a senior member of the Hardware Engineering team, you will work to lead, coordinate, and develop the production team in the successful manufacture of control systems within the defence industry. The role is ideal for a highly experienced Production Engineer with a background and working knowledge of both Electrical & Mechanical Engineering to grow the Production Engineering capabilities.
This role requires the development of close working relationships between our production team, design & engineering teams, senior leadership team, and procurement team. The primary tasks will be to plan and lead engineering work-packages and support the delivery of projects, working closely with our suppliers to ensure their production activities are managed to timescales to meet programme objectives and manufactured to defined standards. The majority of the manufacturing will be undertaken by third parties but will require customer interaction in a hybrid fashion, with potential visits to supplier sites required to support manufacture, testing, and inspection, as required.
Specialist engineering knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical systems on a variety of defence programmes from a manufacturing perspective is preferred.
Note: This role is above and beyond your technical engineering delivery activities. The following line management responsibilities are anticipated to take circa 50% of your time.

Responsibilities:
- Own, manage, and maintain company and programme-specific processes and procedures to enable successful manufacture.
- Own production progress reports and communicate across functions, suppliers, and customers.
- Lead and support the production team across multiple disciplines and projects.
- Lead process improvements within the department and the company, aligning with practice panels.
- Control change management during production phases due to customer, supplier, or internal design changes.
- Line management responsibilities for a team of Engineers, including career development, talent management, and performance management.

We are looking for:
- 5+ years of experience as a manufacturing/production engineer.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to work under pressure in a changing environment.
- Experience with cabinet wiring and installation.
- Knowledge of electrical build standards.
- IPC certification.
Security clearance:
You must be able to obtain and maintain UK Government security clearance (SC). Our team will guide you through the process.
