Programme Manager, Inclusion & Diversity

Are you interested in contributing to the chemical science community's efforts to improve the world for everyone? We are looking for a Programme Manager, Inclusion and Diversity to join the Global Inclusion team on a fixed-term contract for 16.5 months.
You will be an in-house expert on key issues for the chemical sciences, familiar with relevant data, reports, and strategic policy areas. Your responsibilities include developing and supporting the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)'s diversity policies, procedures, and activities to ensure the delivery of our strategy. You will work closely with RSC members and stakeholders with expertise in this field.
You will lead on new and ongoing projects, collaborating with teams across the organization, including membership, policy and evidence, outreach, and industry, to embed diversity in all our work. Additionally, you will oversee the budget for specific projects and work with the Inclusion and Diversity team and the Global Inclusion team to maximize impact.
The role offers hybrid working, with attendance at the office once a week and more when needed for in-person events and meetings. UK travel is expected. Please mention any flexible working arrangements in your application.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Degree, relevant qualifications, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of the chemical science sector and the broader STEMM community.
- Experience working on inclusion and diversity issues in science, with initiatives to improve disability inclusion.
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, organizing meetings and events, and prioritizing tasks.
- Understanding of current factors affecting inclusion and diversity, especially for underrepresented groups in chemical sciences.
- Strong communication skills, demonstrating empathy, tact, and diplomacy.
- Existing network of scientific contacts with expertise in disability in chemistry or related sciences, or the ability to develop such networks.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in social science research.
- Experience in scientific organizations, universities, or government settings.
- Experience in running events, publishing reports, and facilitating workshops or discussions.
