Overview

Pre-Construction Lead Engineer / Project Engineer required. We are partnered with a growing energy consultancy at the forefront of low-carbon heat networks and sustainable energy solutions. Their projects span retrofit and new-build developments, tackling complex heating system challenges across sectors, including listed buildings and fully occupied estates. As they scale, they are appointing a Pre-Construction Lead Engineer / Project Engineer to own the early project lifecycle and set schemes up for a smooth handover into operations. This role focuses on shaping long-term, futureproof energy projects across London and beyond.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the pre-construction phase of heat network projects (RIBA Stages 1-4)
  • Assess scope, risks, permissions, and external factors (planning, listed buildings, occupancies)
  • Validate design assumptions, challenge where necessary, and ensure deliverability
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and design engineers to build robust solutions
  • Produce clear reports, frameworks, and documentation for senior stakeholders
  • Drive best practice across project governance and technical compliance

What we\'re looking for

  • Experience within heat networks, communal heating, or M&E
  • Strong technical grasp of how systems transition from design to delivery
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage and challenge stakeholders
  • Excellent coordination, organisational and reporting skills
  • Comfortable guiding projects through early RIBA stages into pre-construction

  • Salary up to £55,000 Base Salary
