Responsibilities

What youfl l be doing

  • To be an effective member of a team to maximise productivity, quality and effectiveness
  • Support the Senior Project Engineer to ensure the safe and timely delivery of the department work programme incl. Maintenance, Fault investigation/repair and Defect Management and the support functions of these tasks.
  • Collect and collate asset data relating to cable assets to ensure a robust inventory and data available for reporting purposes.
  • Proactively manage interfaces with others (internal and external) to ensure effective time management and availability.
  • Liaise with OCC and operations planning team to schedule and plan outages to deliver the work programmes.
  • Provide robust engineering investment information to the Asset Manager for all areas of the transmission network
  • Continually maximise productivity through monitoring of work processes and output
  • Contractor management and field supervision of transmission cables activities to ensure works are being delivered efficiently
  • Quality and Safety Management of transmission cable works including site auditing.
  • Condition Assessment data gathering for transmission cables
  • Undertake limited switching (OP-2) on the transmission network.
  • Continuously strive to gain knowledge and experience in relevant areas of business procedures and system operation

Qualifications

What you7ll bring

  • Working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Awareness of network development policies and procedures.
  • Developed customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of network and business data and network management systems.
  • General awareness of commercial & regulatory requirements.
  • A degree of negotiation, communication and people management skills.
  • Ability to devise solutions to problems/challenges.

Minimum Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering HNC and/or significant relevant industry experience
  • Preferably qualified to Degree/ HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Relevant experience in a role within a utility business/ post graduate with appropriate engineering knowledge
  • Able to demonstrate technical competence in relation to Transmission Cable Construction and Maintenance Activities
  • Site Management Safety Training / Safety Passport
  • Sound knowledge of CDM and HSAWA regulations
  • Full valid driving licence
  • Computer literacy - e.g. Microsoft Office suite
