Project Manager (Agile Initiative)

New Today

INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY The Oxford Martin School is seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to join the team behind the Agile Initiative, an ambitious interdisciplinary research programme funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). This post is full-time and fixed-term until 30 January 2027, and we strongly encourage applications for secondment from across the University. We will also consider a part-time arrangement (for example, 0.8 FTE). As the Agile Initiative enters its final year, you will play a key role in maintaining and refining the operational and financial systems that underpin the programme. Working closely with the research and administrative teams, Sprint partners, University colleagues, and NERC, you will help ensure the successful delivery, governance and close-out of this fast-paced, high-impact initiative. Launched in 2022 with £10 million from NERC, the Agile Initiative pioneers new ways of connecting science and policy in the environmental sciences. Through rapid-response interdisciplinary "Sprints", it delivers timely, solutions-focused research to inform urgent policy challenges, while developing researcher skills and driving culture change across the University. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced research project manager to broaden their expertise in a high-profile, cross-disciplinary environment. A secondment in this role offers valuable experience in complex programme management, financial operations, and stakeholder engagement, contributing directly to the University's mission to deliver research with real-world impact. We are seeking a creative and proactive problem-solver with proven expertise in project management, operational delivery, and financial administration. You will be confident working across diverse teams and adept at navigating the complexities of large research programmes. Experience of research project management within the University of Oxford, including familiarity with UKRI funding processes and systems such as Oracle R12 and X5, is essential. The Oxford Martin School supports the University's commitment to equal opportunity, and to being a place where everyone belongs and is supported to succeed. We recognise how the diversity of our community enriches our ability to deliver on our academic mission. We welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds, including those under-represented within higher education. No applicant or members of staff shall be unlawfully discriminated against on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting statement as part of your online application. Your supporting statement should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one. Both documents must be submitted to be considered. Only applications received before 12:00 noon on Wednesday 19th November 2025 can be considered. We expect to hold interviews on Monday 8th December 2025. #J-18808-Ljbffr
