Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 12 months due to backfilling secondment

We're looking to recruit an experienced Public Health practitioner, with knowledge of procurement and managing projects, for a 12-month fixed term Project Manager Post in Public Health.

Mental health is a public health issue. No other health condition matches mental illness in the combined extent of prevalence, persistence and breadth of impact. The key purpose of the Project Manager is to contribute to the promotion of positive mental health and wellbeing in Leicester through the development and implementation of specific public mental health initiatives.

Addressing inequality in health is an is important to the local authority, and social and economic inequality is a major determinant of mental illness which underlies other risk factors.

As a Project Manager you'll be part of a team focussing on prevention of mental illness and promotion of mental health across the life course in Leicester. Improving mental health helps to reduce inequalities, improve physical health, reduce health-risk behaviour, increase life expectancy, social functioning and quality of life. The benefits of protecting and promoting mental health are felt across generations.

You'll be working Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week full time hybrid working, including at City Hall, Charles Street Leicester. A typical day will be working with the Mental Health and the wider Public Health teams. Other contacts will include community organisations ,service providers, officers in procurement, legal affairs and finance. You'll be expected to contribute business cases, solve problems concerning different aspects of commissioning and project delivery.
