About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team and to take the lead on several new programmes, as well as support the continued growth of the business.
The role offers the opportunity to contribute to global security and safety, whilst also learning and developing your own skills and knowledge. Together the Air Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) team delivers a varied range of programmes, from production, development, integration and support. This can be to customers directly, or through other key defence companies and Raytheon entities.
Our business has the benefit for working in a challenging environment: a complex engineering and legislative environment with frequent changes - we are therefore keen to hear from individuals who can create momentum within a programme, work effectively with other team members to deliver results and adapt to change. A key benefit to this role, given the rapid growth in the ATMS business area, is the opportunity to travel to visit customers and suppliers both nationally and internationally.
Below are both the Essential and Desirable candidate qualities. At Raytheon our priority is culture: we are keen to hear from people with the right attitude, values and willingness to learn, therefore even if you feel you do not meet some of the qualities, we still encourage you to apply.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree qualified in a technical or project management related discipline, or with equivalent non-academic experience. A recognised project management qualification is highly desirable.
- A team player who works well with others and inspires them to follow in their example.
- A successful track record in delivering complex programmes to different customers.
- Able to establish and nurture productive relationships, both internally and externally.
- Experienced senior project manager/aspiring programme manager who has capability to get the best from their team.
- Proven ability to create and identify new opportunities for business.
- An ability to work self-sufficiently to deliver on agreed goals
- Able to anticipate problems, identify innovative and logical solutions, and then to confidently enact them.
- An able communicator in verbal, written and presentational forms to all audiences.
- Demonstrable ability to manage and work within agreed budgets.
- Ability to challenge and question.
- Established background in Aerospace and/or Defence.
- An understanding of UK MoD, Foreign Governments and Military
- Member of a relevant Engineering or Programme Management Professional Institution.
- Experience of effective management of programmes using Earned Value Management.
Working within the ATMS team, as part of the wider business unit, you will execute and support a range of technically challenging programmes. Establishing and growing effective relationships with both new and existing customers is key. Success will require innovative thinking, forward planning, and an ability to react quickly to changes. As a valuable member of the ATMS team, identifying and securing new opportunities, working collaboratively with the wider company, and creating an inclusive environment for your team to grow are important to the success of this role.
There will be significant exposure and excellent opportunity to advance within the company.
As part of the day-to-day activities the role requires delivery of programmes, ensuring on-time deliveries, customer satisfaction, and high-quality deliverables. There will be opportunities to take on wider activities across the company, and a broad interest in what the wider Company does would be a highly desirable quality.
