The location of the role is Plymouth (hybrid working).
The duration of the contract is 6 months.
The pay rate on offer is £380 - £420 per day.
Overall Department Direction
The role of the Project Planner within UK Marine Engineering provides first line project controls support to enable effective project delivery through the whole lifecycle of engineering projects from concept to in service support.
Day to day, you'll support the Project Teams by creating, maintaining and reporting various project plans. Key activities include allocation of budgets, maintaining documentation and detailed scheduling of tasks guided by the Project Teams.
In this role problem solving, strong communication skills and an analytical mind are required to ensure that the correct project control mechanisms are in place to help achieve project outcomes. Taking direction from the Project Manager and drawing on knowledge from other skilled Project Analysts you will thrive in this dynamic role.
Key accountabilities of the role:
- Take an active role in the control and forward planning of work for different teams to enable successful delivery of tasking.
- Run regular meetings with project teams, providing focussed outputs before the meeting to highlight items that require attention and providing accurate and timely updates to plans.
- Maintain and create booking codes, liaise with relevant stakeholders to understand any budgetary controls and to correctly load resource estimates, populating relevant planning tools.
- Maintain and support the development of key planning tools to maximise control and accuracy of reporting.
- Produce various reports to support the project teams and resource owners, to allow successful managing of projects which may include analysis and reporting progress, identifying trends in the data.
Essential skills and experience:
- Good working knowledge and understanding of project planning concepts, tools and processes.
- Demonstrable knowledge and use of the Microsoft Office packages: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project (desirable)
- Highly proficient in advanced MS Excel; including power query, data transformations, writing formulae.
- GCSE's or equivalent A-C Grade, minimum in Maths & English
- Keen eye for detail and problem solving is essential.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Desirable skills and experience:
- Project Controls / APM qualification
- Knowledge or experience of working within the APM framework.
