Job Description

We are looking for a Project Support Officer to support the delivery of exciting, innovative projects including flood risk management studies and schemes that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment. You will support Project Managers and project teams to deliver their projects. There will also be opportunities to provide administrative and logistical support to our wider team. You will become involved in a range of activities such as handling and processing data, tracking finances, setting up new project workspaces, organising meetings, taking minutes, preparing notices of entry letters and public newsletters, ordering site signage, running reports, and accompanying Project Managers on site visits.

You'll develop your interpersonal skills, building a network of professional relationships. You will learn how to apply legislation, policy and guidance and use your communication skills with wide and diverse groups. You will be fully immersed in a professional project management service. As you grow in confidence, we'll also support your ambitions too, helping you use the experience as a springboard for your career.

Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when needed.

The team We are Project and Programme Delivery (PPD), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. Our teams provide the Environment Agency with a professional project and programme management service. Our well qualified staff manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver flood risk management, environmental improvements, and shared ownership with local communities. Although dispersed through offices across the region we create collaborative spaces to share learning and develop our people.

Experience/skills Required

Essential:

  • Experience in using MS Office, particularly Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, with relevant support.
  • Experience in accurate data management, report writing and presenting relevant information to stakeholders.
  • Efficient and adaptable communication skills, for a variety of audiences.
  • Organisational and planning skills.

Desirable:

  • Academic qualification (e.g., A-Levels). Subjects advantageous include maths/statistics, geography, English, environmental studies, business studies, economics, or computer science.
  • Experience interacting with diverse audiences across the Environment Agency and beyond; beneficial to have customer-facing experience and good communication skills.
  • Experience of working in formal project environments.
  • Working knowledge of information sharing platforms (SharePoint).

Other information

The role will be fulfilled from either Bristol or Exeter offices, with regular travel to project sites and project team meetings in other Agency and Supply Partner offices. Occasional overnight stays may be necessary. The role requires you to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when needed.
