Overview

We are looking for a Project Support Officer to support the delivery of exciting, innovative projects including flood risk management studies and schemes that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment.

You will support Project Managers and project teams to deliver their projects. There will also be opportunities to provide administrative and logistical support to our wider team. You will become involved in a range of activities such as handling and processing data, tracking finances, setting up new project workspaces, organising meetings, and taking minutes, preparing notices of entry letters and public newsletters, ordering site signage, running reports, and accompanying Project Managers on site visits.

You'll develop your interpersonal skills, build a network of professional relationships, and learn how to apply legislation, policy and guidance while using your communication skills with wide and diverse groups. You will be fully immersed in a professional project management service. As you grow in confidence, we’ll also support your ambitions, helping you use the experience as a springboard for your career.

All new joiners are required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when needed.

Team

We are Project and Programme Delivery (PPD), delivering a professional project and programme management service to support flood risk management, environmental improvements, and shared ownership with local communities. Our teams are dispersed across offices but collaborate to share learning and develop our people.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers and project teams to deliver projects related to flood risk management and environmental improvements.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the wider team (data handling, financial tracking, setting up project workspaces, organising meetings, taking minutes).
  • Prepare notices of entry letters and public newsletters; order site signage; run reports; accompany Project Managers on site visits.
  • Develop interpersonal skills and professional relationships; apply legislation, policy and guidance; communicate with diverse groups.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Essential:
  • Experience in using MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines with appropriate support.
  • Experience in accurate data management, report writing, and presenting information to stakeholders.
  • Efficient and adaptable communication skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Desirable: Academic qualification (e.g., A-Levels). Subjects such as maths/statistics, geography, English, environmental studies, business studies, economics, or computer science may be advantageous.
  • Experience in working in formal project environments and familiarity with information sharing platforms (SharePoint).
  • Customer-facing experience and enthusiasm to help colleagues.

Location, Travel and Working Arrangements

The role will be fulfilled from either Bristol or Exeter offices with regular travel to project sites and meetings in other Agency and Supply Partner offices.
