Overview
As a Design Coordinator, you will deliver multiple brand projects from concept to delivery. You will support the business and Store design team with plans and guidelines, using CAD. You will manage brand design projects with a Project Manager to deliver leading edge and sustainable design solutions, and ensure effective communication with buyers and brand partners by providing timely updates throughout the project process. You will support the Store Design/Property Team and Buying Team in all Retail Planning and Design related matters to deliver best in class solutions for all stores.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective design coordination of projects through the entire design, development and delivery process
- Assist the senior design team in preparation for design-related meetings and/or presentations to the Board/Executive and Directors
- Be part of a design team delivering world-class retail experiences
- Manage collation and production of compartment/department design guidelines
- Provide CAD support when required to support the wider team
- Coordinate with other key contacts (eg M&E projects, Facilities, Project Management Office)
- Assist in production of presentations
- Conduct brand design briefings as required with support from the Project Manager and Buyer
- Analyse and review design packages, provide feedback, and present brand concepts to Selfridges directors/stakeholders for concept approval
- Manage approvals of brand shopfitting projects through concept and detailed design stages
- Ensure projects adhere to Selfridges’ Masterplan and Store & sustainable guidelines
- Liaise with brands throughout concept, detail and design phases through to project completion
- Sign off detail design packages for installation
- Ensure timely design information is passed to the Project Manager and internal teams for delivery
- Work with project management and internal teams to maintain design integrity at every stage
- Participate in post-project reviews and design analysis
- Communicate Selfridges design specifications to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain a design-focused communication plan for the project lifecycle
- Support capacity studies, fixture evaluation, and contribute to writing a Selfridges retail brief
About You
- In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign & Photoshop) and Microsoft Office
- Experience with SketchUp is an advantage
- Innovative and commercially aware design approach; able to develop cost-effective ideas
- Excellent design oversight with strong attention to detail
- Creative, solution-focused mindset with a passion for design and sustainability
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
- Resilience and ability to work under pressure on multiple projects
- Knowledge of construction practices, joinery, and practical site experience
- Hand sketching skills
- Self-motivated but team-oriented; willingness to learn
