Property & Liability Underwriting Manager

Allianz UK – Head Office – Hybrid role based in Guildford office.

Role Description

Key role within the Property & Casualty Insights and Portfolio Management Team. You will develop and execute the underwriting strategy across the portfolio, deliver technical excellence, and drive profitable development of relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver KPI targets across complex portfolios, monitor account performance, and identify remedial actions.
  • Adhere to Underwriting Authority, manage P&L impact, and support profitable segmentation strategy.
  • Undertake account control, quality review programmes, and Underwriting Inspections.
  • Produce technical training material, mentor and coach regional underwriters.
  • Act as a senior technical referral point, liaising with underwriters across the branch network.

Essential Skills

  • Commercial underwriting and portfolio management experience with strong technical skills.
  • Ability to select appropriate products, apply rates and terms, and recommend referrals.
  • Deep understanding of internal provider processes, claims costs, risk management tools, and policy wording.
  • Strong data analysis, recommendation and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven account management expertise handling large cases and arrangements.
  • Driven, confident negotiator with strong people skills and achievement orientation.
