Our Team
The Growth Office is responsible for ensuring enhanced cross‑selling, great government relations, impactful strategic partnerships and a world‑class win work function. We also support the key enablers of the strategic growth plan such as private finance, and investigate and incubate new fields of play to help generate new revenue.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Proposals Director to join our Growth Office. This role will be responsible for creating leading capability in the development of high‑scoring written proposal submissions for our strategic pursuits that maximise our chances of success. They will build and manage a small team of exemplar Proposal Managers and Proposal Writers within our Win Work Excellence Group, and allocate these resources across our strategic pursuits portfolio.
Your Role
Identify, engage, and recruit exemplar proposal management and proposal writing resources that will enhance the quality of our strategic bid submissions.
Oversee the operational management, pastoral care, and career development of Proposal Managers and Proposal Writers.
Maintain presence within the external proposals industry and develop relationships with strategic suppliers to source innovations and best practice in proposal delivery.
Engage with a broad range of stakeholders including Key Account Managers, Capture Managers, Creative Designers and Subject Matter Experts to inform workforce planning and ensure the development and capture of exemplar collateral required for proposals.
Implement best‑in‑class approaches and tools (including generative AI) to support the development of compelling and compliant written content and clear articulation of our value proposition.
During peaks in workload act as Proposal Manager on strategic pursuits, leading the development of best‑in‑class proposal submissions through adoption of best practices and processes, securing necessary inputs from technical subject matter experts, and managing Proposal Writers to develop compliant, persuasive content.
Identify and implement actions to continuously improve proposal delivery.
Work with our Learning & Talent Development team to create training and guidance materials that will enhance our capabilities in proposal management and proposal writing.
About You
A degree or equivalent qualification (relevant technical certifications in business development activity would be desirable).
Proven Proposal Management experience in the engineering, construction, or professional services sectors. A strong track record of managing and delivering complex, high‑value proposals.
An understanding of engineering projects and terminology, with the ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable proposal content.
Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously under pressure and with tight deadlines.
Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, including experience of using generative AI writing tools.
Meticulous attention to detail is essential to ensure compliance and high‑quality deliverables.
A collaborative and motivating leadership style with the ability to build strong working relationships across diverse teams.
Well‑developed emotional intelligence with the ability to flex your style to suit different stakeholders and support others to do the same as part of wider development activity.
