Ecotricity is a company with a vision to make Britain green. We’ve been named in The Times 2016 top ten most disruptive organisations.
About Ecotricity
As part of our vision, we don’t just supply energy; we also generate energy, run the world’s first UN-certified carbon neutral & vegan football club, operate a nationwide electric vehicle charging network, and more. Our Technology and Transformation team works across these initiatives.
Our business relies heavily on digital channels. As we reimagine our digital services, we aim to build our quality assurance capabilities to ensure we continue providing excellent service to both external and internal customers.
Role Overview
You will work across all our technologies in our Bristol Tech Hub or HQ in Stroud, collaborating with developers, QAs, product owners, and project managers.
We are developing a distributed system utilizing AWS cloud services, microservices, and modern architecture. Your input will be valuable in technology and tool choices, especially in testing distributed microservice architectures and native apps for iOS and Android.
What We Seek
A forward-thinking QA engineer focused on automation, experienced in creating automated integration and functional tests, and familiar with testing native apps and distributed systems.
Experience with AWS, Node.js, Serverless technologies, native app testing, and distributed systems is essential. Passion for sustainability and open source contributions are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated tests integrated into our CI/CD pipeline.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure testing best practices.
- Help define when to automate and when to use alternative testing approaches.
- Work across multiple teams, technologies, and projects, sharing knowledge and skills.
- Participate in knowledge sharing workshops and pair programming.
Benefits & Flexibility
We offer healthcare, life assurance, pension schemes, volunteering days, hybrid working, discounts, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and other benefits. We support sustainability and environmental initiatives.
Our flexible working hours (core hours around 09:30 – 16:30, Monday to Thursday, early finish on Friday) and remote work options are designed to support work-life balance.
About Us
Since 1995, Ecotricity has been pioneering green energy in Britain, building windmills, sun parks, and green gasmills. Our mission is to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy and to turn bills into mills—funding green infrastructure through customer bills.
We also built Britain’s first megawatt windmill, the country’s first grid-scale sun park, and the first green gasmill. Our initiatives include the Electric Highway, Britain’s leading EV charging network, and supporting the Forest Green Rovers as the world’s greenest football club.
