Overview

Mabey Hire is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team at the Garswood depot in Ashton-in-Makerfield, England, United Kingdom. Location – Garswood. Job type – Hybrid (3 days Office, 2 WFH), Full-time, Permanent. Salary – Competitive.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the highest levels of Health & Safety standards are maintained.
  • Knowledge of construction methods & techniques.
  • Maintain contemporaneous records and documentation for cost recovery in the event of claims.
  • Perform all Quantity Surveying duties including cost reporting, forecasting and measurement of work sections.
  • Assist Bid Manager or Sales Team with Pre-Contract Commercial processes, bid/no-bid decisions, tender pricing and subcontract term negotiations.
  • Where required, manage the full subcontract cycle.
  • Assist in preparation of loss and damage submissions.
  • Assist in monthly contract reviews (CVRs) / MMP portfolio reviews with progress updates.
  • Collaborate with Engineering lead, PM and Construction Lead to forecast final costs for design, labour, plant, materials and subcontracts.
  • Prepare monthly CVRs based on delivered costs against month-end timetables and identify variances in cost reports.
  • Integrate with design and construction teams to support commercial reporting and advise on contractual implications and actions.
  • Identify commercial opportunities and manage margin enhancement.
  • Provide early warnings to the Commercial Manager for any cost or programme implications.
  • Contract administration to ensure notices and variations are submitted to protect the company (e.g., remeasurement items, Change Control, Compensation Events).
  • Manage potential disputes or claims and ensure works stay within budget / tender allowances.
  • Keep the Commercial Manager advised of issues or risks that could affect the project, and lead monthly project reviews with stakeholders to assess Cost/Value Reconciliations (CVRs).

What You Need

  • Commercial Management, Project Manager or Quantity Surveying Degree
  • CSCS cardholder
  • 3-5 years’ experience in construction/civil engineering
  • Experience in managing construction/civil engineering projects and client interface
  • Computer literate
