Business Manager - Accountancy Practice & Corporate Finance Recruitment Specialist

The successful candidate will collaborate with senior staff to lead the preparation of R&D claims, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation while providing valuable expertise and insight to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate confidently with colleagues across R&D, corporate tax, audit, and accounts teams.
  • Support client meetings and presentations, clearly communicating services and technical details.
  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities and contribute to pitches for prospective and existing clients.
  • Manage and deliver R&D tax projects with a focus on technical excellence, compliance, and practical solutions.
  • Prepare documentation in line with UK BEIS guidelines and HMRC requirements to support R&D claims.
  • Draft technical project descriptions and refine client-prepared narratives for HMRC submissions.
  • Conduct and participate in interviews with clients’ technical and finance teams, advising on qualifying activities and expenditures.
  • Contribute to claim methodology development and assist in preparing submissions to HMRC.
  • Oversee R&D engagements, including monitoring costs, managing billing, mitigating risks, and delivering high-quality client service.
  • Liaise with HMRC to address inquiries and support claim resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring clear communication and effective project delivery.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the firm to expand internal networks and identify growth opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Recent, practical experience managing an R&D tax portfolio.
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills, with current knowledge of R&D tax issues.
  • Proven ability to organize and deliver complex projects, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence and professionalism to establish credibility with clients at all levels.
  • Commercial acumen and strong understanding of client needs.
  • Professional qualifications such as CTA and/or ACA/ACCA are preferred.

General Requirements

  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours when needed.
  • Willingness to travel between offices as required.
