Role Description:
- The role is for a senior or principal quantity surveyor to join the Bristol office as soon as possible due to a senior team member leaving several months ago.
- The position involves managing projects day to day, overseeing junior staff, and combining employer's agent responsibilities with quantity surveying.
- The hire is intended to support a small team of five in Bristol and contribute to expanding the team and project scope.
- The role includes managing a significant commercial office scheme starting post-contract in late September and requires strong stakeholder management skills.
- The role offers a family-run business atmosphere with a client-facing, reactive approach and strong support from head office.
- The Bristol office currently has a small team of five, with plans to grow to around eight quantity surveyors within three years.
- The candidate will report directly to the division director, and the working arrangement is flexible with typically three to four days in the office and one day remote.
- Market intelligence gathering on competitor perception, salary, and career structures is requested to inform the search and positioning.
Requirements:
- The candidate should have a degree level qualification and be either chartered or working towards chartership, with support provided for APC completion.
- Essential skills include strong knowledge of JCT contracts, particularly design and build, and experience with cost planning and negotiation to get projects into contract.
- Proficiency with computer-aided takeoff systems such as Costex, Bluebeam, or Kato PRO is required, alongside strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Behavioural competencies sought include adaptability, proactivity, prioritisation, growth potential, client-facing ability, and a 'can do' attitude.
