Responsibilities

This role is suited to a recently qualified (aspiring) Quantity/Building Surveyor or Project Manager.

  • To support Pre-Contract Surveyors, perform the following activities:
  • Developing the project brief and assembling the project delivery team.
  • Procuring necessary consultancy services to develop a project to planning submission/tender.
  • Preparation of robust and accurate tender and contract packages.
  • Undertaking various forms of tender processes.
  • The ability to analyse and review Contractor/Developer and Designer proposals and ensure that the Employer's Requirements are fulfilled.
  • Preparation of the Building Contract.
  • To independently act as Employer's Agent for the delivery of the project(s) which will require:
  • An understanding of development control and funding/delivery standards within the housing sector.
  • Chairing progress meetings and producing meeting minutes. To follow up and proactively manage the project on an ongoing basis.
  • Undertaking all day-to-day administrative duties on the delivery of developments under the terms of JCT, Design and Build, Bespoke Development Agreements etc.
  • To routinely report on time, cost, and quality to the client and proactively manage associated risks.
  • To successfully manage the handover process including undertaking pre-handover inspections.
  • To manage post-completion activities to include end of defect rectification period inspections, agreement of the final account, auditing the Building Manual.

Experience

  • Experience delivering Employer's Agent/Contract Administration services for new build housing.
  • Demonstration of experience working with Local Authorities, Housing Associations or Private Developers.
  • Member of the RICS or working towards their APC or similar professional qualification

Additional Information

  • Working Hours:
    • Working Hours 9 am to 5.30 pm with an hour for lunch.
    • We currently operate flexible hours so that if you wish you can start early/leave early or start late and leave late. However, core hours will be between 10 am and 4 pm.
    • We adopt hybrid working arrangements which allow staff at their choice to work remotely for 2 days of the week.
  • Remuneration and Benefits:

    • We operate a government workplace pension scheme using NEST. You will be automatically enrolled unless you specifically opt out
    • Holiday: 25 days per annum with a further 3 days between Christmas and New Year when the office will be closed.
    • Subject to a 6-month probationary period.
    • The notice period will be 3 months on either side after the probationary period.
    • Home-to-work mileage will not be paid by the Practice. All business miles will be reimbursed at our standard mileage rate. This will be detailed in the contract of employment.
    • You will be covered by accident insurance for any accidents whilst at work.
    • You will be provided with all necessary PPE.
    • You will be provided with a laptop and a mobile phone.
  • Training and Development:
    • Active engagement in career progression/attainment of RICS or equivalent membership.
    • RICS subscription will be met in full by the Practice. Alternatively, membership of other professional bodies that are relevant to the role.
    • CPD is required by the Practice to be paid by the Practice. Any additional CPD will attract financial support from the Practice up to £200
