We are looking for a regional lead for the Midlands to support the work of our clinical and policy director and the wider regional team. This role would suit those with sector knowledge who have present or previous experience of local representative eyecare committees and a passion to create and support opportunities for our members.

This role is for up to 1.5 days per month and is home-based. It is ideal for someone seeking flexible working (occasional evenings/weekends). On occasion, travel to ABDO locations and external venues may be required for face-to-face meetings. The successful candidate will be funded for their time upon receipt of time logs, and necessary expenses will be paid.

The successful applicant will be a proactive self-starter, using their skills and experience to support members across the Midlands. They will work with both the clinical and policy team and collaborate with the wider Regional Lead Team, helping to shape policies that advance our profession.

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) is the professional body for dispensing and contact lens opticians in the UK, with around 8,500 members worldwide. Our role is to support and represent members, promote awareness of their roles, enable career development, and advance the profession.

ABDO plays a key role in developing and implementing eyecare policy across the UK sector, ensuring eye care services are designed, commissioned, and delivered by leveraging the expertise of dispensing opticians. We collaborate with various organisations to support and deliver optimal eye care for patients.
