The Role:
We are seeking to recruit 2 experienced nurses to support the development and rollout of our physical health strategy for individuals in our social care services. This is an exciting opportunity to lead initiatives aimed at reducing health inequalities and enhancing the health and wellbeing of our service users.
The successful candidates will be Learning Disability nurses (RNLD) with excellent physical health care knowledge/experience or Registered General Nurses (RGN) with strong knowledge of learning disabilities and autism. These roles are home-based with flexibility to travel to sites as needed (about 1–2 days per week, with occasional overnight stays).
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing our physical healthcare strategy in social care for people with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Ensuring equitable access to primary and secondary health services for service users
- Developing policies and procedures
- Providing physical health care advice and supporting the development of health-related care and support plans
- Facilitating skill development in others
We are looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about enhancing the wellbeing of people with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Has experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors
- Possesses good knowledge of national drivers in physical health care for people with learning disabilities
- Has excellent communication and teaching skills
- Can work autonomously and as part of a team
- Is flexible and willing to travel up to 2 days per week for site visits
Education and Qualifications:
- Registered Learning Disability or General Nurse with current NMC registration
- Degree or equivalent experience/education
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Additional qualifications such as MIP, FLIP, ENB 998, or City & Guilds 730 are desirable
