As a Midwifery Leader, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic regional maternity team in delivering oversight and monitoring of compassionate maternity services across the East of England.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example with collaborative approaches to working and relationships at the forefront of practice.
  • Ensure that women, families and the local population are central to all activities.
  • Question and support in equal measure to enable transformation and critical enquiry into practice and delivery.
  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with others to ensure evidence-based embedded practices to improve outcomes.
  • Be accountable for the strategic and operational development across maternity services, including quality improvement and transformational leadership and workforce across the East of England, with focus on national perinatal policy.

Key aspects

  • Support delivery of key workforce and leadership development actions referenced in the Maternity and Neonatal Plan and the Long-Term Plan, using expert clinical knowledge and authority to influence Directors and Heads of Midwifery, Lead Obstetricians, and Trust/LMS Board members.
  • Lead the quality and clinical workforce expertise contribution in partnership with systems and providers requiring support.
  • Develop and manage relevant strategic maternity quality plans across the East of England.
  • Proactively manage key quality risks and issues with appropriate mitigation or response actions.
  • Monitor and establish accountability on progress of National policy to ensure completion within agreed timescales.
  • Manage and promote relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Develop leaders of the future and promote leadership development.
  • Develop and implement systems to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, Directorate and wider NHS organisations as appropriate.
