Remote coverage across the UK, with key locations in Peterborough, Milton Keynes, Gloucester, Caerphilly, and the surrounding Birmingham, Northampton, Oxford and Luton areas.

Full‑time, permanent position – 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00‑16:30.

Role Overview

Providing competent advice and support to our operational and administration teams, the Regional SHE Manager will implement and take responsibility for all aspects of SHE on our contracts that cover construction and non‑construction activities within the Branch. You will monitor compliance with policy, procedures and systems, support staff, report non‑compliance to managers and instill a strong health and safety culture among both staff and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct compliance audits to ensure each branch remains fully compliant with KPI expectations.
  • Produce audit reports detailing findings, appropriate actions and liaise with Branch Managers to resolve issues.
  • Deliver formal training to the wider team, providing a Level 3 qualification in training as part of personal development.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels within the Group and with subcontractors to drive the SHE strategy forward.
  • Support field‑based teams across the Peterborough, Milton Keynes, Gloucester and Caerphilly area on all matters of SHE compliance, including regular travel.

Qualifications & Criteria

  • Minimum NEBOSH Certificate / NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Experience in construction health & safety.
  • Experience in social housing.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and good working practices.
  • Understanding of health and safety issues in a property maintenance/management setting.
  • Team player with a proactive, positive, can‑do attitude.
  • Initiative, confidence, decisiveness, enthusiasm, reliability, patience and approachability.

Desirable Requirements

  • Diploma or Level 6 qualification in Health and Safety.
  • Environmental management qualification.
  • Auditor qualification.
  • Other H&S qualifications used on construction sites (scaffolding, temporary works, etc.).

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
