Overview
We are currently looking for a Regulatory Scientist to join our Innovation Accelerator function within the Science, Research & Innovation group. This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based at 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. This role can be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum on-site attendance to enable collaboration with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business.
What’s the role?
The role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of healthcare innovation in the UK. The successful candidate will deliver subject matter expertise in healthcare products regulation derived from their experience across the drug/device development lifecycle. They will provide advice to support the function of the Innovation Accelerator (IA), Regulatory Science and the wider Agency. They will also interpret horizon scanning signals, contribute to regulatory science activities, develop responses to regulatory enquiries, and work across a range of responsibilities with pace and creative problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist knowledge and insight as one of the Innovation Accelerator’s specialists in medicine and medical device regulation, applying regulatory expertise to support the IA and Regulatory Science function and providing expert regulatory advice to external stakeholders / requesters.
- Support the Head of Innovative Products to drive forward cross-cutting strategy, policy and guidance, contributing to MHRA’s wider innovation strategy by informing decisions on the case for change through evidence and briefing senior leaders on regulation of innovative healthcare products. Lead the development of regulatory pathways that optimise the development of new products and technologies.
- Develop and build good working relationships across the MHRA and related organisations, coordinating activities and appreciating stakeholder views from industry, academia and patients to maximise impact for patients and public health.
- Monitor the broader regulatory landscape relating to innovative products to provide advice and insight that guides priorities and informs policy recommendations; prepare and present high-quality briefing and guidance documents for senior officials.
Who we are looking for
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., pharmacy, science, healthcare professional qualification) or relevant work experience
- Broad and expert regulatory experience applicable to the Innovation Accelerator’s aims
- Regulatory or industry experience with demonstrable contribution to healthcare product development
- Sound knowledge of relevant regulations related to healthcare products across the development lifecycle
- Demonstrable thinking: Seeing the Big Picture – align plans with strategic priorities and communicate effectively with senior leaders
- Demonstrable Behaviour of Communicating and Influencing – explain complex issues clearly and persuasively
