Repairs Inspector

We are currently recruiting for a Repairs Inspector to join our team in Salford. As a Repairs Inspector, you will play a key role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the Group’s housing stock. Your responsibilities will include conducting inspections before and after repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment works. Working closely with Delivery Co-ordinators and Works Planners in the Delivery and Planning (R&M) team, you will ensure projects are accurately scoped, efficiently planned, and completed to the required specifications. You will also assess property needs to determine appropriate repair and maintenance actions, supporting the continuous improvement of our housing standards.

Outline of key responsibilities for the repairs inspector…
- To carry out inspections to the Group’s housing stock both prior to and following repairs, maintenance and/or refurbishment work.
- To liaise with Delivery Co-ordinators and Works Planners within the Delivery and Planning (R&M) team to ensure the projects are planned, delivered and completed in accordance with the appropriate specification.
- To assess the repair, maintenance and refurbishment requirements within the Group
- To assess the current position and scope of any required or completed works
- To monitor in-house workforce and, if required and where appropriate, contractors’/sub-contractors’ performance and quality control.
- As part of the Deliver and Planning (R&M) Team to contribute to the overall development of the team objectives and team targets.
- Be responsible for the regular review of all policies and procedures in relation to the Repairs and Maintenance service.
- Recommend improvements to ensure that service delivery meets requirements.
- To research new materials and components, assess suitability, cost-in-use.
- To liaise with Tenant Liaison Officers consultation of tenants so that choices can be offered and selections made for key components in housing refurbishment schemes, if and when required
We are looking for someone who has…
- A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
- Relevant Construction Industry qualification is desirable (For example, Joinery, Plumbing, Plastering, and Tiling)
- Proven experience of domestic property inspections
- Experience of assessing maintenance and refurbishment requirements
- Show integrity and maintain confidentiality

- Starting salary of£33,877
- 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays
- A flexible working environment, with a range of family friendly policies
- 80% of the time working onsite and 20% working in the office
- You will be required to work a total of 37 hours each week, with your typical schedule being from 8am to 4pm from Monday to Thursday, and 8am to 3:30pm on Friday.
- Scheduled between 08:00 and 19:30 across any five days from Monday to Saturday. The exact schedule will depend on business needs at the time. However, to give an idea, atypical working weekmay be Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30. Please note that this is subject to change based on business requirements.
