As Reporting & Data Automation Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation meets its statutory and regulatory obligations to Ofwat, the Environment Agency, and other key stakeholders. You will be responsible for leading a team in delivering accurate, timely, and transparent regulatory submissions, while driving innovation through the automation of data and reporting processes. You will also contribute to the digital transformation of regulatory functions, ensuring data integrity, governance, and alignment with the UK water sector’s evolving regulatory landscape
Responsibilities Include
Regulatory Reporting (50%)
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports including the Annual Performance Report (APR), Regulatory Accounting Guidelines (RAGs), and WINEP-related submissions in accordance with Ofwat and Environment Agency requirements
- Ensure compliance with the Water Industry Strategic Environmental Requirements (WISER) and other statutory planning frameworks
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and assess their impact on reporting obligations.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Asset Management, Finance, Environmental Compliance) to gather and validate data.
- Respond to queries from regulators and auditors, providing clear documentation and evidence.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities across reporting processes using tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, or RPA (Robotic Process Automation) platforms.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and data pipelines to support real-time monitoring of regulatory KPIs.
- Work with Digital and data governance teams to ensure data integrity, lineage, and security.
- Support digital transformation initiatives and long-term delivery strategies.
- Maintain robust internal controls and audit trails for all regulatory submissions.
- Support internal and external audits by providing timely and accurate documentation.
- Contribute to risk assessments and control testing related to regulatory compliance.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration by coordinating with regulatory, data, digital, and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of regulatory submissions and automation initiatives.
- Mentor and support analysts by providing guidance on regulatory frameworks, data quality standards, and automation best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and compliance excellence.
- Champion a data-driven culture by promoting the adoption of digital tools and automation within the team, enhancing reporting efficiency, transparency, and regulatory readiness.

Efficiency: Drive measurable improvements in reporting processes through automation.
Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulators.
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Experience working with Azure, Databricks, Qlik, PowerBI, MS Excel and Access
- Understanding and experience using data product development frameworks - Agile
- Ability to interface and align internally with Data Governance, Operations & Engineering– with an understanding of your role within a wider team.
- Excellent knowledge of reporting and automation – demonstrable experience applying to solve business problems.
- Organised and disciplined – ability to work across multiple projects and prioritise own time
- Good stakeholder engagement with the ability to facilitate requirements capture, undertake discovery, and co-creation of roadmaps
- Strong ability to influence key strategic decisions using known frameworks, reporting and through effective communication
- Committed and motivated self-learner, passionate about sharing knowledge gained with wider team and business
- Experience in utilities or similar regulated industry
- Experience in leading and managing a team as well as mentoring and coaching analyst development pathways
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and compliance.
