Join to apply for the Research Associate (Maternity Cover) role at The University of Manchester.

The post is funded by a 2-year NIHR Research for Patient Benefit grant, led by Dr. Helen Young, with collaborators at the University of Liverpool, Manchester Metropolitan University and public contributors. The project aims to determine whether progression to a definitive multi-centre RCT of MOVE SMART is feasible and whether the methodology is acceptable to volunteers. The project will be based at The University of Manchester with outreach across the UK through partner organisations, including the UK Psoriasis Association and the UK DCTN.

The post holder will lead the day-to-day running of the project under the direction of Dr Helen Young, including recruitment, consent, randomisation, guiding volunteers through trial processes, data collection and analysis, collaboration with researchers, presentation/reporting, and preparation of manuscripts for publication. The role requires strong organisation, teamwork, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day project operations under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Recruit volunteers with psoriasis and obtain consent for participation.
  • Coordinate randomisation and support volunteers through trial processes.
  • Manage data collection and contribute to data analysis, reporting, and manuscript preparation.
  • Collaborate with researchers and the wider project team; present findings as appropriate.
  • Prioritise tasks in a flexible, independent working environment; maintain excellent people skills for virtual interaction with volunteers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in clinical qualitative research, quantitative analysis, and strong teamwork.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and adapt to a dynamic role in dermatology, sport and exercise science, and clinical trials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with study volunteers.
