Department

York Trials Unit (YTU) is one of the UK’s leading centres for the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials. Due to the continued success of the Unit, we are seeking to expand our team of medical statisticians and appoint a new Statistician at Grade 6.

You will be based in our highly successful Trials and Statistics Group (https://www.york.ac.uk/healthsciences/research/trials/) and work alongside Professor Catherine Hewitt who leads the quantitative analysis in the Unit. The post offers the opportunity to be part of a large and successful multi-disciplinary Department, renowned for its methodological expertise and commitment to policy relevant research.

YTU is a UKCRC registered trials unit undertaking national and international, scientifically rigorous, trials in a variety of areas whilst having a strong methodological portfolio associated with the conduct and analysis of trials. YTU undertake trials in a range of subject areas including surgery, mental health, musculoskeletal disorders, social care, education and public health.

YTU is seeking an enthusiastic individual to contribute to the design and analysis of their trials and collaborate with colleagues on research projects, grant applications and creating impact. It is envisaged that you will already have research experience in an area that would deepen, compliment and/or extend the existing research activity within the Trials and Statistics group, and across the wider Department (https://www.york.ac.uk/healthsciences/research/). You will be expected to have a demonstrable track record of conducting high quality research focusing on the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials.
