About Vidiia

Vidiia is an innovative diagnostics company born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, with roots in leading UK universities (Surrey, Lancaster, and Brunel). Our mission is to deliver faster, simpler, and more accessible diagnostic solutions through the integration of AI and molecular biology. Our core platforms include VH-6 (AI-assisted LAMP), VH-LyoMM (lyophilised reagents), and VH-RED (rapid RNA/DNA extraction). We aim to develop 100 new diagnostic assays by 2029.

About the Role

We are looking for a Molecular Microbiology Researcher with a strong foundation in LAMP diagnostics, primer design, and genomics to develop our next-generation molecular assays. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on rapid diagnostic assay development and work closely with product, software, and commercial teams to bring impactful technologies to market.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse genomic sequences to inform assay development and target selection.

• Design LAMP primers using genomic databases and in-silico tools.

• Validate and optimise LAMP assays across health, agri-food, veterinary, and environmental sectors.

• Integrate assay workflows with AI-powered diagnostic platforms (VH-6) and mobile interfaces.

• Collaborate with university partners, grant bodies, and commercial stakeholders.

• Represent Vidiia at conferences and write publications.

What We’re Looking For

• PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related field.

• Expertise in nucleic acid amplification techniques, especially LAMP.

• Strong experience with primer/probe design and in-silico assay validation.

• Familiarity with pathogen genome analysis, sequence databases (e.g., NCBI, ENA), and bioinformatics tools.

• Passion for applied science, innovation, and diagnostic impact.

• Ability to thrive in startup environments – agile, adaptive, and collaborative.

• Strong communication and project management skills.

Why Join Vidiia

• Lead assay development at the frontier of AI-integrated diagnostics.

• Be a key driver in our goal to deliver 100 new assays by 2029.

• Work in a supportive, mission-driven team combining molecular science, AI, and product innovation.

• Flexible working model with access to top-tier facilities at Future Space, Bristol.

• Competitive salary and opportunities for career growth.
