Overall purpose of the role

This role supports the HR function, to optimise the allocation of work and deployment of staff to ensure the efficient and successful delivery of coverage for clients and projects in order to meet organisational goals. This function plays an important role in matching the demands of multiple teams and projects with the availability of talent within the client-facing role.

Resource Planning & Allocation

  • Oversee and manage the Resource-Use schedule, ensuring professional staff are effectively matched to teams.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to consultant capacity, collaborating with senior stakeholders to implement solutions.
  • Partner with business development and new products services teams to understand requirements, identify resourcing gaps, and allocate staff with the right skills and experience to meet client needs.

Capacity Management

  • Forecast future resource needs by analysing the appointment pipeline and business development goals.

Leaver & Joiner Management

  • Oversee leaver profiles and coordinate the timely relocation of client portfolios in line with departure dates.
  • Manage new joiner work allocation and partner with HR to assign appropriate line managers for client-facing staff.
  • Track the progress of new starters to ensure their chargeable time increases in line with grade expectations.

Data & Reporting

  • Utilise tools to ensure efficient production of the Resourcing Model.
  • Monitor and analyse skill gaps and utilisation trends to support internal client-facing recruitment.
  • Analyse skills matrices and present recommendations to the Resource Committee.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous relevant experience as Resource Manager, Utilisation Manager, Workforce Planning Manager or relevant, preferably within a professional services firm.
  • Trusted advisor who provides balanced, pragmatic advice around work allocation to their teams
  • Able to drive change; providing challenge and problem solving through innovative thinking.
  • Ability to influence and challenge effectively
  • Able to build relationships at all levels and be credible with senior stakeholders

This role offers hybrid working with 2 days in the office and 3 from home.
