What you'll do

Working closely with the Retail Technical Manager, Retail Teams and other stakeholders, the role is responsible for:

  • Actively promote and drive business initiatives to an excellent food safety culture
  • Manage and ensure food safety customer complaints are investigated and resolved effectively
  • Ensure micro sampling and data management is completed as directed
  • Raise standards of hygiene and microbiological performance by providing in-shop support and coaching
  • Develop relationships with pest control contractors to meet commitments and raise awareness of pest issues
  • Liaise with Local Authority representatives to provide problem resolution
  • Investigate and monitor food safety non-compliance and incidents
  • Contribute to the management and development of food safety and quality management systems
  • HACCP team member, contributing to review and maintenance of HACCP systems
  • Collect, collate and communicate KPI data
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation
  • Contribute to training activities where necessary

About you

We are looking for individuals who are driven, and can demonstrate:

  • A Degree or HNC in a Food Science-based subject
  • HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3 qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years experience in a technical food safety role in production or retail
  • Experience in investigations and internal audits with strong attention to detail
  • Leadership experience, decision making, initiative and report writing
  • Results-focused with excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to process new information quickly and adapt to challenges
  • Enjoy working in a hard-working team and celebrate results together
  • Supportive of an inclusive culture
  • Willing to develop and work with great people on the Greggs journey
