Strengthening Controls, Enhancing Processes, Managing Risk

This senior role within the Risk, Assurance & Process Improvement team offers a unique opportunity to strengthen the control environment and improve end-to-end processes across Softcat Plc and its group undertakings, as the business continues to expand. Reporting to the Head of Risk, Assurance & Process Improvement, this second line role is responsible for designing and embedding robust risk and control frameworks across key operations and finance areas, with a focus on processes such as Lead to Cash and Financial period close (Record to Report). The role is expected to support the wider Enterprise Risk Management, Governance and process improvement initiatives. Strong stakeholder engagement is essential, and exposure to technological change projects is preferred. As a senior member of the team, you will also be expected to provide guidance and support to junior colleagues, acting as a buddy and role model to help them develop and succeed.

As a Risk & Assurance Manager (Finance & Operations), you\'ll be responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining risk and control frameworks to support proactive risk management.
  • Promoting risk awareness through training, workshops, and collaboration with first line teams.
  • Conducting assurance activities including control testing, audit support, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Delivering insights and reports to enhance risk posture and inform leadership decisions.
  • Driving process improvements and automation to boost efficiency and effectiveness.

We\'d love you to have

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of internal system controls within ERP platforms such as NetSuite.
  • Experience within a consultancy or audit firm, with expertise in risk, controls, and assurance.
  • Proven ability to independently lead audit and risk projects and engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and strong analytical thinking.
