Risk Officer (Risk or Compliance background). Based in Emersons Green, Bristol. Salary c£30K up to £32,500 per annum plus benefits and flexi time, with a 50/50 split between work from home and in-office work, depending on experience. The client operates in the compliance industry, focusing mainly on motor trade and travel, and has regulatory relationships through an Appointed Representative status with the FCA.

Responsibilities

  • Provide risk and compliance support as part of a 2nd line of defence model. Ensure first line controls are effective and complete second line reviews on other business departments focusing on customer detriment risk.
  • Manage incidents and breaches process, horizon scanning, and network risk assessment; oversee the network member onboarding process and handling regulated complaints.
  • Produce/thematic reviews and contribute to standard operating procedures; support the control environment through training and development.
  • Assist in training and development and contribute to continuous professional development within the team.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • 2 years of experience in a risk or compliance role.
  • Adherence to the ethos of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) in all work activity.
  • Completion of the company's Compliance Training program.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills with the ability to analyse processes against requirements and outcomes.
  • Ability to critically review and judge the compliance of written and oral communications against defined criteria.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to proactively manage workload.
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a retail insurance environment.
  • Experience working with/for finance providers and in risk-related roles.
  • Understanding of Motor and Travel industry sectors.
  • Familiarity with the FCA Handbook and requirements such as DISP, PRIN, SYSC, ICOBS, SUP, and CONC.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to work as part of a team.
