Linnaeus Calder Veterinary is recruiting for a Roving Veterinary Surgeon based in Dewsbury Hospital, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Hours: Four days a week, Monday to Friday, with no weekends or OOH. Salary: £70,000 per annum (depending on experience).
Calder Veterinary is part of Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health, a large family-owned veterinary company. Calder has 11 clinics across South and West Yorkshire, including a 24/7 Tier 3 Hospital, on-site emergency care, and a wide range of primary care services, diagnostics, and some advanced services. The role involves working across multiple practices with aROVING schedule to provide varied clinical experiences.

The role and team
The Dewsbury Hospital is purpose-built and includes facilities such as a large waiting room, air-conditioned consulting rooms, fully equipped theatres, X-ray, ultrasound, CT on site, and a dental area. There is a large, supportive team across sites with 15-minute consults as a minimum. Calder Veterinary offers a full range of primary care services and some advanced services, with a dedicated ECC night team for 24-hour on-site emergency care. The team prioritizes clinical excellence, ongoing learning, and wellbeing at work.
Responsibilities
- Provide sole-charge and hospital-based care as needed, including consultations, routine surgery, and emergency case management.
- Work across multiple Calder Veterinary practices with a roving schedule.
- Interpret diagnostics and participate in treatment planning and case management.
- Contribute to a varied caseload, from routine to complex cases, and support ongoing professional development.
