Purpose of the role

BBC Studios is in the midst of a major transformation across its Global Consumer Product Licensing business. We are implementing a new, integrated platform using My Media Box (MMB) technology to replace legacy systems and manual processes with streamlined, automated solutions across all touchpoints. This transformation introduces deal systemisation, SAP and ETHOS integration, with the goal of ensuring data integrity across global teams and stakeholders.

Why join the team

As Royalty Compliance Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of this change, ensuring robust royalty reporting and compliance in a newly unified operational landscape. As part of a Transformation programme, BBC Studios Global Licensing is introducing a new contract and financial reporting system.

You’ll work closely with the Consumer Products team in an exciting, fast-paced environment, especially with the upcoming Bluey movie, and support contract migration, third-party error handling, and project delivery through Go Live and beyond.

Your responsibilities and impact

  • System Migration & Go-Live Support: Coordinate cross-functional teams to execute the migration strategy, ensure royalty data and recoupment are accurate, validate migrated data, support system testing, and act as the first point of contact for licensees and agents during go-live.
  • Contract & Compliance Oversight: Review contracts to ensure royalty terms are correctly captured, liaise with Legal to interpret and apply complex clauses, and confirm rights usage and payment terms are accurately reflected.
  • Royalty Reporting & Reconciliation: Support daily error handling, resolve reporting issues with internal and external stakeholders, reconcile SAP royalty reports, distribute accurate data to sales teams, and track outstanding statements from licensees and agents.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners and provide clear communication on royalty issues, contract queries, and reporting obligations.
  • Continuous Improvement: advise contributors and producers on reporting requirements, and implement solutions to improve data accuracy, system compliance, and overall process efficiency.

Your skills and experience

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Experience in a royalties-based role, ideally within consumer products, licensing, or entertainment.
  • Experience working within a matrix organisation.
  • Strong understanding of royalty reporting, contract compliance, and financial reconciliation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to spot and resolve data inconsistencies.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience working with outsourced finance teams or shared service centres.
  • Understanding of rights exploitation and contract structures.
  • Exposure to AI tools or automation in finance or royalty management.
  • Experience supporting system implementations or migration.
