Safety & Environmental Compliance Engineer

Location : Portsmouth, Hampshire (Hybrid 3 days on-site)

Contract : 6 months (likely extension)

Rates : Up to £70 an hour (Inside IR35 via umbrella)

Security Clearance : SC required prior to start

Overview

Were seeking an experienced Safety & Environmental Compliance Engineer to join a leading defence and communications engineering organisation in Portsmouth.

This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance across multiple engineering projects supporting delivery through the full lifecycle and ensuring all programmes meet MOD and EU standards.

Youll work closely with multi-disciplinary project teams, providing technical leadership, regulatory oversight, and clear safety guidance within a complex engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Safety and Environmental Management Plans (SEMP) and Safety & Environmental Cases (SECR) in accordance with UK MOD processes.
• Chair and coordinate Safety & Environmental Committee meetings (internal and external).
