Salaried General Practitioner (ARRS)

Following the recent release of information and ARRS funding, Wakefield North Primary Care Network (PCN) are looking to expand our PCN team by recruiting a part-time, salaried General Practitioner who is enthusiastic and forward-thinking for a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026.
We are looking to recruit and individual who is caring, positive and self-motivated to take on this role and be able to work across the PCNs practices. Many of our practices are experienced training practices with strong support, supervision and mentoring provision.
The post-holder will manage a caseload dealing with a wide range of health needs within a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
To be eligible to apply for the this post you will be newly qualified (within two years beyond your certificate of completion of training being issued by the GMC) and not been substantively employed as a GP in general practice previously or employed in a temporary capacity as a locum.

Main duties of the job
You will have a base at Henry Moore Clinic in Castleford (which will be used for the purposes of claiming mileage) but will be required to work flexibly across the PCNs GP practices.
As the role requires you to commute across the PCN, applicants should hold a full driving licence, which is valid in the UK, and hold the relevant car insurance to cover travel for business purposes, along with access to a car.
Hours of work are 28 hours per week (part time) to be worked flexibly between 8.00 am and 6.30 pm Monday to Friday. Where you may be required to support clinical services outside of these hours, time off in lieu will be made available.
In accordance with the PCN/General Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themself available to undertake a variety of duties to include:
Surgery consultations
Telephone consultations and queries
Visiting patients at home
Checking and signing repeat prescriptions; and
Dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion
About us
Wakefield North PCN is made up of six practices across Castleford, Normanton and Featherstone, four of which are registered training practices. We are also part of the West Yorkshire GP Educators Programme, and our experienced Clinical Directors include a GP Training Programme Director and the Wakefield Mental Health Lead. You will be part of a fantastic primary care team of experienced GPs, nurses and advanced practitioners who can provide you with the opportunity to learn and develop your knowledge of primary care whilst being part of an inclusive and supportive PCN.
All practices have PCN staff working alongside them which includes a Pharmacy Team, Mental Health Practitioner, Paramedics, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, Care Co-ordinators, Social Prescriber and a Nursing Team providing an outreach service to our housebound patients and those requiring support in other settings. All of this offers the successful applicant the opportunity for multi-disciplinary team working within each of our practices.
Your week will include personal development time and tutorials, with the monthly training sessions provided in a GP practice, across the PCN or all of Wakefield.

Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Full registration with GMC
- Certification of Completion of Training (JCPTGP/PMETB)
- Inclusion on Performers List
- MRCGP
- Evidence of a commitment to on-going personal & professional development
- To be eligible to apply for the ARRS GP role, candidates must not have been substantively employed as a GP in general practice previously; or
- Is not employed in a temporary capacity as a locum; and/or
- Upon commencement of employment is less than 2 years beyond their certificate of completion of training being issued by the GMC.
Experience
